COLOMBO VIA SPIGA – MILAN

This store in Via della Spiga carries a prestigious brand name for top level leather goods, unique to Milan. It was designed in 1996 and at the time it was felt that the space needed to be neutral and classically furnished, where craftsmanship and richness of materials would play the main part in the overall picture.

The large book shelves-cum-display units, off scale for this space, become its characteristic feature. They are made of cherry wood and shiny steel with walnut and cherry wood veneer panelling in the back and a final French polish finish, giving the whole thing a lovely vintage effect. The sales-display tables, quasi art-decò reproductions, stand on a dot random marble “carpet” which recalls Lombard architecture (furnished by Fantini Marmi).
